| Description | The Montana Chorale has researched the music during the time of Lewis & Clark, known as the Jeffersonian period of American history. The Chorale has prepared a 90 minute performance of this unique music (ballads, play-party songs, folk tunes, humourous ditties and hymns) that have been performed in concert. A CD is also available, and is named "Voices of Discovery." Part of the performance is an original poem written by Elizabeth Cain of Lincoln, MT. The poem is for mixed voices and traces the Lewis & Clark journey through the eyes of Sacajawea. The entire performance is a moving, historical journey portrayed in music by the voices of the Montana Chorale and authentic instruments of the period. | |||
| History of Performer(s) | The Montana Chorale is a professional chamber choir of adult Montana musicians. We were founded in 1976 to celebrate our country's Bicentennial celebration at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The Chorale tours communities large and small throughout the state and is recognized for excellence in choral music. The organization tours with an ensemble of up to 24 voices. All musicians are teachers, performers, conductors from across the state, and some have music as an avocation. We are funded by private and corporate grants, as well as the Montana Arts Council. |
