Lower Yellowstone L&C Bicentennial Commission
ATTENDING:: Marcy Hamburg, Kim Koncilya, Linda Wolff.
Minutes from March 13th meeting were approved as e-mailed.
Glendive Chamber, 1:00 p.m.
May 8, 2006
Treasurer’s report was approved at $92.50.
Marcy will e-mail Marcia about our web site cost and to update the Sidney event. We need to know when our contract will end.
Access Brochure: Kim reviewed the brochure and gave her ok. Marcy will check with Laura to see if she found anything, if not that project will proceed.
Marcy will mail Columbus and Big Timber. Linda mailed Colstrip and will deliver Huntley.
Linda purchased medallion for Linda Koncilya and the shipping is $15. This will come from the O & P funds. A check will be issued to Linda.
Shirt for prizes need to be ordered: 2 Ladies short sleeved 1 medium, 1 large and 3 Men’s long sleeved 1 large and 2 X large.
Floaters Guide – Linda reported that Bonfield, the one just east of Miles City, is done and the next one is in Billings at the BLM state office being reviewed. David needed a couple of photos to finish the last one to Sidney. Those have been received and sent on to the state office in Billings also. David is expecting both maps back in Miles City by mid May to be reviewed for a final time and then sent to print. He is in hopes we can have both of them by mid June or at least the end of June. Wow this has really been a long project. It will be wonderful when it is all finished.
Kim will check with a local person to see about a plaque for Linda’s medallion and the price.
Miles City Update – Brian Deckert is the contact for the MT National Guard to get the General and the fly over at our events. He contacted Linda and he will be attending one of our meetings in May. Linda also asked him about the MT National Guard Color Guard. The contact for that is Dawn Trobvich at 324-3231 if you want assistance from them. Attached is the tentative schedule for Miles City.
Sidney Update – see attached tentative schedule.
Fundraising going poorly, grants have fallen through and it has been very difficult to secure the proper funding for our event. The next step will be to make local phone calls to try and cover the rest.
E-mail Kim & Marcy the information on the rubic cube that Miles City has sold for the last 2 years. Impact Photo Graphics send inquiries to 1-888-763-0775 or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $3.50 and we sell them for $6.
Glendive update – Kim said the committee met and they will be making a cake for the Guinness Book of World Records and we think it may be held near the river. Another suggestion was in a park where Bud Clark will be setting up the encampment. They will have interpreters have living history activities.
Marcy suggested for Kim to contact the Committee for the Humanities for a possible grant for a speaker.
Marcy mentioned the State Commission meeting coming July 21 in Billings at MSU.
Linda sent Kim Rita’s address. Linda will probably attend the VIP event in Billings.
Next meeting will be June 12th. At that time we will decide if we will meet in July or wait until Sept. 18th for a wrap up.
Meeting adjourned 3:00 P.M.
