March 8, 2004

Attendees:Linda K., Marcy, John, Sharon & Linda W.

Minutes from the meeting following the corridor meeting in Miles City - Marcy made a motion and John seconded the motion, minutes were approved as corrected.

Minutes for Dec. 16, 2003. John made the motion and Marcy seconded minutes were approved.

Marcy gave out a flyer called Lewis & Clark Locally. Linda asked for clarification. Fill this out for your local events and send it to Travel Montana and they will put it on the web.

NEA Forest Service Grant - got to web site for federal grants.

Grant funding is available for Corp II speakers from the BLM.

Honor guard book by Gene Hickman - the group will purchase three of them, one for Miles City, Glendive and Sidney.

Treasurers report $6,483.34. $700 is allocated for the frames for the posters, 35 1.2" x 25 6.25 square. $24.70 + $15.50 + $8 = $48.20

Or 32 x 21 = 50 square

$20.50 + $13 + $6.75 = $40.25

Special 4 pieces = 10% off $144.90 = $36.22 each

Special 6 pieces = 15% off $218.27 = $32.74 each

This would be to have the posters laminated, and foam board on the back, ready to go to work

This price comes from the Frame Gallery in Miles City.

Marcy made a motion for our commission to pay for the Governor's conference for those that are attending: Linda K. & Linda W. Linda K. seconded it. Approved.

Kiosk - Everything is done and in Glendive. Marcy mentioned this is a photo opportunity for our group when they break ground to place the kiosk. Linda K. will let the rest of us know when it gets closer. We are just waiting on the ground to thaw out to place the posts.

Banner project - waiting for forms and color photos. Tabled this time.

Suggestion to have a regular sized banner; it would be lots easier to sell them than the just a piece of paper.

Logo - nothing yet.

Mosquito Trail - It was decided that on April 12 our group will travel to the Enchanted Highway out of Dickinson and see these statues and then visit with the people that made them. Then we can come back and write a better grant to get our mosquito trail funded. We will meet in Glendive at the Chamber office at 10 AM.

Jeff Altheizer(sp) is with the CVB in Williston and is working with the Canoe Trail. Sharon will contact him before the next meeting.

Possible Grants: L&C Trail, Challenge Cost Share Grant, Cultural & Aesthetic Grant.

Sculptures - 16 total estimated cost $1000 per sculpture.

Need a maximum size but no minimum size.

Sculptures must be of mosquitos at least 10 feet tall minimum. This does not include the base. All metal.

Discussion about grants for this project and we decided it needed better planning.

Ask local artists costs.

Sharon mentioned that the Lewis & Clark & Sakajawea sculptures weigh over 400 pounds and it was $600 for all three. John will check to see if he can drive.

Trails - City or County Feb 4, 2005 for next grant cycle.

Walking Trails - FWP Land, Water, IceTea - SafeTea - one component Trails

Speakers - Tour West National Endowment with Arts

= for trails

April 22 in Sidney, Hal Stearns - Sharon asked if we were doing anything with Hal in our area. He will be in Miles City first, but we have nothing going and neither does Glendive.
