Golden Triangle L&C Bicentennial Commission Meeting Minutes
February 14, 2002
Attendees: Steve Kubick, Bob Moritz, Laurie Heupel, Joni Stewart, Bob Jicobii, David Jacobson, Sheryle & Rick Bittner, Allan Lowry, Bill Rappold, Kathy Campbell, Larry Epstein, and Elaina Zempel.
Meeting held at the GAIN office in Cut Bank at 2:00 p.m.
Two Medicine Fight Site and Camp Disappointment Signs: A letter asking for moving our grant into 2003.
Mock-ups of the signs were distributed. Brent Phelps photos will be digitized at a cost of $300 per panoramic photo. Larry submitted changes to Laurie's narrative. Camp Disappointment is 2.6 miles from campground run by the Bittners. Changes for the signs were distributed. Editing will be done as too many words were presented. Otis Half Moon, Earl Old Person's wife, or Darrell Kipp will be approached for approval of the signs. Joyce Spoonhunter has been contacted and has not returned telephone calls from Larry Epstein, Joni Stewart, and Laurie Heupel.
Pullouts are now under construction on both the Meriwether Road (Projected completion is Fall of 2002) and Highway 387 (Projected completion Fall of 2003). Bases for the sign will be ordered and stored at Glacier or Pondera County.
Photos for the Camp Disappointment will be given to Laurie Heupel by Cheryl & Rick Bittner. Laurie will give pregnant triangles to the Bittners.
Joni Stewart gave a brief report on the gazebos/windbreaks at the Two Medicine Fight Site and Camp Disappointment. A subcommittee comprising Joni Stewart, Laurie Heupel, Bill Rappold, and Kathy Maggi.
Teton River Rest Area - Lightning Photo was donated. Signs should be completed in two months. Map will be resubmitted to Laurie Heupel from Bergantino. Laurie requested original negatives for the map. Original map would be the best.
Letter to Upper Missouri Chapter and Marias River Chapter indicating our support of their Signature Event and the National Council Meeting.
A report was given on the state commission meeting held in February in Dillon. See the State Commission meeting minutes.
Joni will submit changes to Sam Carlson for the GTLCBC Logo.
Any additional comments and suggestions were entertained.
Steve Kubick offered his assistance in our endeavors and invited us to their meetings, 7:00 at the Civic Center.
