Great Bend of the Yellowstone Lewis & Clark Heritage Regional Bicentennial Commission Meeting Minutes

January 13, 2004
Attending: Becky Douglass, Sandra Cahill, Jackie Robbins, Bob Raney, Jeanne Marie Souvigney, Dick Baerman, Marleen Anderson, Dale Guidi, Penny Carpenter. Guest: Gloria Guidi.
A Taste of the Trail hors devouers sampling time first....and kitchen shower for Dale & Gloria Guidi in the disastrous loss of their home by fire. Many good dishes and "libations" were enjoyed.
Minutes were sent out ahead and corrected. The day for photos is July 25, 2004 for the Day in the Life on the Yellowstone. Approved as corrected. In kind time sheets requested to be turned in.
Financial Report: New contributions received for the monument. No other changes in other three funds.
1. Introduced Marleen Anderson, new Commission member and will be handling the Monument Fund transactions and details. She will follow up on the donation requests, information needed on the bricks, make deposits with Linda Hendy at the County finance office, send receipts in thank-you notes. Penny will transfer the PO key to Marleen.
2. Becky reported on the contract with Mary. Will make a correction on it to accommodate the $40.00 charge for the walnut base for each small bronze statue. Motion made and passed to pay Montana Edge, Sharon Walker, for the letters and envelopes.
3. Discussed the upcoming event at length. Sandra had great success with donors for food items: Chico will do Smoked Trout; Kim's Homemade Kitchen will do Buffalo Meat Balls; Martins will do Port & Cornmeal Stew; Jewel Redmon will do Mini Cornmuffins; Tate's Meat will do Buffalo Jerky; Jeanne & Bob will do smoked salmon; Sandra will do Hardtack. Dale & Gloria offered to contact Barb Pritchard about squash with onions; Diana will get Jerusalem Artichokes and Watercress.
Penny will type the recipes and the "Bill of Fare"; Will make name tags for Commission members and volunteers. Sandra will do the toasts and send some to Ritchie Doyle.
Chuck Holland has sent 100 books to the Depot and will be coming for the event on Sat. He will speak for about 5 or 10 ". Mary Michael will have a booth too with the bronzes. Her e-mail is
(marymichael@montana.net). Lewis & Clark Lager will also be there. Pretty Good String Band will play background music throughout the evening. Bob Raney will talk to Gary Blakely at Cabin Coffee.Becky will take care of the Fish House Punch. Sandra will talk to Albertsons about sodas. Diana will seek out volunteers through RSVP and Depot Staff to help that night.
4. CTEP no report. Bricks-we each spoke for one or two to get enough made for samples.
5. Site for statue still an issue with the City Commission. Bob E. concerned about floodway. Bruce Becker needs copy of artists copyright law.
6. Penny will e-mail letter from Jane Indreland to Bob E.
7. Penny contacted Yellowstone Country by web and requested placemats. No word yet.
8. Sandra replied to Jeff Dietz in Billings about the Corridor agreement. No answer yet.
9. NFS Arts grant application not out yet. We'll watch for it.
10. Jeanne will check into the Livingston Trust again for the monument project.
11. We received a nice thank-you from Doris for her birthday flowers.
Next meeting will be to finalize details for Jan. 24 “Taste of the Trail” event on Wed. Jan. 21, 5:30 p.m. Next regular meeting will be Jan. 26, 2004, 5:30 p.m. at Penny's office building.
