Lewis & Clark Tour Guides Can Apply for Official Listing - 10/17/02
HELENA – The Montana Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission is accepting applications from qualified persons interested in having their Lewis and Clark tour guide credentials posted on the commission’s website.
“Guides who demonstrate the minimum experience and knowledge required will be included on the Summer 2003 season list,” Clint Blackwood, executive director of the commission said.
Tour companies, and visiting groups are continually seeking local subject area guides for their cross-country excursions following the Lewis and Clark trail in Montana, he said.
To be listed on the website, persons must complete a short form listing their experience and describing their areas of expertise, and demonstrate at least a minimum of experience and knowledge in five areas related to the expedition story as well as customer service, he said.
To request an application, interested persons can call 406-443-2109, or write Montana Bicentennial Commission, PO Box 201203, Helena MT 59620-1203. Application deadline is Nov. 30, 2002.
For those wishing to improve their qualifications, Blackwood said the commission and the USDA Forest Service will partner in offering five, one-day workshops at the Training Academy at the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Great Falls.
