BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION OFFERS L&C PERFORMING ARTS GUIDE - 7/2/04

HELENA—The Montana Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission is making a directory of performers available to organizations across the state to help them organize events to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Corps of Discovery.

"We had a wonderful turnout in Livingston last month for our Lewis and Clark Talent Showcase. We want to share the information we gained about that talent so that groups can contract with the performers that best suit their needs,” Commission Executive Director Clint Blackwood said.

The 49-page Lewis and Clark Performing Arts Directory can be ordered for $10 including shipping by calling 406-443-2109 or by e-mail at rcortright@state.mt.us.

Musicians, actors, historical recreators, dancers, theatrical groups and others have developed Lewis and Clark specific performances over the past few years based on the Bicentennial, and many of them are from Montana, Blackwood said.

The directory lists the performers, a brief description of their performance, and how to contact them for more information or to negotiate a contract.

“We are going to be having commemoration events ranging from the local level to national Signature Events in Montana over the next couple of years. We are doing all we can to help groups get ready,” Blackwood said.
