License Plate Committee Meeting Minutes

Committee Members: L&C Bicentennial Commission: Homer Staves, Betty Stone, Clint Blackwood, Rita Cortright; H2O: Tony Hines, Mare Etta Sodja, Shawn Crum.

A conference call was held on October 24, 2001, at 3:00 p m. between the committee members listed above to discuss the "Marketing Plan, Lewis & Clark License Plates," prepared by H2O Advertising & Marketing and presented to the Commission during their October 10-11, 2001, Commission meeting in Billings.

The committee discussed the various options presented in H2O's marketing plan. It was agreed that H2O would research and obtain prices for the various options in the plan, in addition to the marketing ideas conveyed by e-mail from Clint Blackwood to Shawn Crum on October 23, to determine priorities.

The committee discussed arrangements for the contract for the license plate marketing plan and agreed it should be drawn up between H2O and the Montana History Foundation, as this is definitely a part of the overall fundraising effort by the Commission.

Also discussed were the pro's and cons and intent of the Commission's motion at the October meeting for the expenditure of $30,000 for the license plate marketing plan in FY'02 versus splitting the $30,000 between FY'02 and FY'03. The committee discussed the possibility of recommending that money beyond the $30,000 campaign might be expended in FY'03.

A second conference call was agreed on for Friday November 2, at 3:00 p.m.
